A Channel 4 news report has explored a rise in disability hate crimes in the UK.
According to the disability charity United Response, police forces across England and Wales have received over 10,000 reports of disability related hate crimes in the last year.
United Response is concerned that specific measures to combat the problem are being merged into wider plans to tackle general crime.

What is a Disability Hate Crime?
A disability hate crime is a criminal offence motivated by hatred or prejudice towards a person because of their actual or perceived disability.
The incident can be a one-off event, or it can be a series of ongoing harassments.
