Our quarterly Safeguarding Bulletin has been released in January, April, July and October every year since 1992.
Previously, our Bulletin came in the form of a PDF, which you had to download before you could read it. This made it less accessible for some. So, we’ve now decided to make the Bulletin easier for everyone to access, through uploading it directly to our blog.

Places Are Filling Up Fast For Our 2024 Safeguarding Adults Conference!
During Safeguarding Adults Week 2024, we are focusing on how we can effectively work together to create safer communities and stop the harm and abuse of adults.
The conference will contribute to continued professional development for professionals and volunteers working with adults across a range of sectors.
Our conference features a selection of informative keynotes and workshops exploring effective techniques for working better together to safeguard adults. Here are some highlights from the programme:
Learning Disability England
Learning Disability England is bringing people and organisations together to create a movement for change where people with learning disabilities, families, friends and paid supporters come together on an equal basis. They will be delivering the keynote speech, exploring how we can effectively work together with people who have lived experience of learning disabilities.
Catch 22
Catch22’s Gangs and Violence Reduction services work to reduce the risk posed by gang-involved individuals, ultimately reducing the number of violent incidents, both in custody and in the community. Anna Smith of Catch 22 will be running a “Know The Signs” workshop on Gang Awareness and Criminalisation.
Our Dementia Choir
Our Dementia Choir work to preserve and protect good health among people with dementia, their families, and their carers, through providing the opportunity to sing as part of a choir. Last year they sang for an audience of 24,000 at Nottingham’s Splendour Festival, and they will be closing this year’s Safeguarding Adults Conference with a special performance.
This year’s Safeguarding Adults Conference will also feature:
- The DBS will be running a workshop on Transferable Harm – When To Report a Concern.
- A session on Safeguarding Adults in Faith organisations with Reverend Tom Wilson.
- A session on the Exploitation of People with Learning Disabilities with The University of Nottingham’s Dr Alison Gardner.
- The Ann Craft Trust’s Safeguarding Adults in Sport Team will also be presenting a session which will focus on why partnership working is essential in sport and physical activity.
