25 years on…

Deborah Kitson

In 1992 Ann Craft established NAPSAC (National Association for the Protection of Adults and children with Learning Disabilities from Abuse).  Ann worked tirelessly in the 70’s and 80’s to raise awareness about the lives of people with learning disabilities and their restricted rights in the area of relationships. But she also became increasingly aware of the importance of safeguarding people from exploitative and abusive situations.  I am proud to have had the opportunity to contribute to the work that she was so passionate about.

Safer? Stronger? Heard? Where are we now?

Sarah Goff & Anita Franklin

Reflection on the journey over the last 25 years of keeping disabled children safe and looking at how practice and thinking may have developed.

The Real Experts

Kim Arnold

As one Expert by Experience put it “If you want to know how good a service is that I’m using the best person to ask is ME”

My Marriage My Choice; Assessing Capacity to Marry

Rachael Clawson

This research is exploring forced marriage of adults with learning disabilities from a safeguarding perspective with the intention of developing knowledge, policy and practice to support professionals in their work of safeguarding vulnerable children and adults.

Safeguarding in Sport and Activity

Nicola Dean & Michelle North

This presentation will provide a brief update on CPSU and ACT’s role in safeguarding children and adults in sport, working closely together to provide ‘seamless safeguarding’ for everyone involved in sport from childhood through to adulthood.
