Janet obtained a law degree from Brunel University in 1976 and joined the Magisterial Service. She was admitted as a solicitor in 1982 and spent 2 years in publicly funded defence work, concentrating upon work in the Youth Court and representing parents in Care proceedings.
She joined the Crown Prosecution Service in 1988 and now leads a team of lawyers and caseworkers dealing with a wide variety of offences investigated by Kent Police. Janet particularly specialises in prosecuting child abusers and is now developing that role to include abuse against vulnerable adults. She is the county lead for Speaking up for Justice. Janet is also a member of the Kent Child Witness Service Advisory Committee. Aside of work, she is married with no children and an active member of Soroptimist International.
